Every law gives different rights to different kinds of workers. Some workers have special protections.
- Independent Contractors
Many people are told that they are independent contractors, even when they're not. Bosses can save a lot of money by treating employees as independent contractors and workers lose many rights and protections. - Union Members
Union members have more rights in almost every aspect of their work lives than non-union workers. Make sure that you have a copy of your contract, talk to your shop-steward about your concerns, and be involved in your union -- the union is only as strong as its members! - Probation and Probationary Workers
If you are told that you are "on probation" or that you are "probationary," make sure that you understand what that means. - Part-time Workers
- Members of the Military, Guard, and Reserves
